Hi! I'm working on either a Mother's Day present, a birthday present, or a Christmas present for my mother-in-law (depending on when I finish it). :-P

My "theme" is taking pictures of my husband as a baby and finding pictures of my kids doing the same thing, or the same look. Almost like a "Who is this?" book.

The only glitch I'm running into is the pictures I'm scanning in of my husband look old, dirty and well, just not as bright, colorful, and clean as the ones from my kids. The pictures are from the early 80's. Would it look awful having an "old" picture on a page where everything else is "clean"?

Does this make any sense?

I did try fixing the pictures but nothing really fixes it.

Photography sure has come a long way in a short time, hasn't it! I was actually thinking of doing a similar thing along the way for my daughter..if I ever get caught up on the current photos we are taking of my grandson! It's amazing how "old" the pics from the 70s and 80s look. You could use one of the actions or filters on the older photos to brighten them up to look a bit more consistent. Kim Hill has several that would work for this type of work. The other option is to "age" the newer photos to make them match a bit more. You could do 2 page spreads with the past on the left and the present on the right..using the same set on both pages would help to tie it together. I think it's a fabulous idea so work out what looks best to you and definitely do it! It actually works with the idea of the legacy challenges..isn't it crazy how the 80s is vintage!

Thanks Sunni. I can't get over the difference in picture quality. It makes me wonder how they can possibly improve what we have now.

I did a page and printed it (just to see what the quality of the 1979 picture looks like compared to the one from 2007). The pictures didn't too bad together. At least we can say it is the thought right? hehe.

I'm planning on getting the book printed by shutterfly or CVS when it is all done.

Thanks for your help!
